Canvasback Drake Duck Decoy by Charlie Joiner

A great looking drake Canvasback duck decoy. Made by Charlie"Speed" Joiner in 1965 from Chestertown Maryland. It has been hunting over but is in all original condition. It is signed and dated on the bottom.  
Joiner began carving decoys as a teenager .
He apprenticed under and was strongly influenced by R. Madison Mitchell and also drew inspiration from the Ward Brothers (Steve and Lem Ward).
Joiner’s geographic region is the Upper Chesapeake Bay / Eastern Shore: his designs reflect the “Upper Bay” style of decoys — for example, both round-bottomed working decoys and later decorative pieces.
